Food Entry Encore: Kak Nong Restaurant

1. Many people did not really highlight this one restaurant i don't know why. Maybe people prepare imported restaurant like KFC, old town, Manhattan, New york and a lot more restaurant from the west. ( Note: Manhattan is inspired by the west but not from there...haha).

2. So what is so special about this restaurant. My personal view, this restaurant is nostalgic. I've been eating in this place since i was small. Years ago. Maybe more than 10 years ago. Then it disappear. And for that period of time, i did not taste or even aware of it. But suddenly in year 2009, suddenly i felt like eating it and i search for it and i found it. Still in the same place in Beverly Hills area KK. Easy to find, and the food still similar even though is not the same.

This is classic for this restaurant. A dish called Soto Gulai Ikan Kak nong. I gave 5/5 for this dish. So delicious if you like something like Laksa, soto...etc. This meal consist of fish meat, with noodles and the soup is consist of coconut milk, chillies i guess, some other thing but i can assure you that there is nothing like this dish. I can eat 2 bowls if i have money. One bowl cost rm7 but you will be satisfied with it. Dun worry to spend money for a good food.

This is new. Dish called Soto Nyonya Kak Nong. I could not remember eating this dish before. I guess it is a new dish in Kak Nong or maybe 10 years ago i did not realize it was in the menu. Who knows. Some people like this soup. Consist of fish also, noodle and the soup is like a sour ginger soup with a little bit of sweetness and spices. Same taste like other Chinese Fish Head soup but less ginger i guess for this one. Still yummy. RM7 also for a bowl. Big bowl.

And this is totally new. 10 years ago Kak nong does not sell dessert as such. This is modern dessert but i found it hard to find anywhere else around Kota Kinabalu. There are many variety of dessert but i like this one. This is Peach plus sweetened seaweed with ice at the bottom. The ice was pour with creamy milk and sugar. This is damn nice.

Ok. That's it for now. Kak Restaurant is easy to find here in KK provided you have your own car. Just drive to beverly hills area and when you see a shop lot where milimewah is located, Kak nong is around that place. I did not know the exact addres for that restaurant and i am not paid by that restaurant to advertise. So i won't say it. haha.

I am just sharing a place for good food because good food is a source of happiness.

  1. bro i remembered i went to this restaurant with u... i guessed its around 10 years ago... haha :)

  2. oh yeah. THis place is nostalgic. For new generation, they may not know the value of this restaurant. haha.

Astro Remote volume not responding

I have been looking around for solution when my Astro beyond remote start having problem where it does not want to control the volume of my astro anymore.

The strange thing is, the remote seem fine and only the mute and volume won't respond.

After realizing that the remote cost around rm250 to be replaced, I start thinking that this is not an ordinary remote control.

After a few minutes of research (only) I found out that this remote can be programmed to be synchronize with our television.

Hmmm. So the remote problem must be cause by it some programming error.

Turn out of you have similar problem like this, all you had to do is to press OK button with volume down until it bleep 4 times then it will be ok. This method canceled the volume control for the television ( meaning that you can only control the tv volume not the decoder).

Later I found out that if you want, you can use your tv only volume to control the astro thus no hassle to have 2 remote at the same time.

Master in Pathology (Malaysia): A Guide To Apply.

Master In Pathology: My Experience Entrance Exam That was not my first attention on trying to write such post. My intention was to share on how to get into that entrance exam in the first place. So here it is. A step by step guide on how to get yourself into the entrance exam.
A Guide to Apply for Master in Pathology (Mpath)
1. Make up your mind. I've seen a few of my friends who apply for this pathway and get confused before it begin. Ask yourself, are you really interested in Pathology? Do you know what pathology is? Do you know what kind of work are you going to do in Pathology.
Most of the time, people thought pathology MO or specialist were all just sitting down drinking coffee and chit chat all day long. No work to do. Think again. The best thing to do is to get yourself into the department itself. Work as a pathology MO first, in a few…

Becoming a medical officer in Malaysia: Are you still a real doctor?

To recap from my previous post, a person must completed 5-6 years study in medical school, pass their professional exam, enter 2 years house officer training program, pass their exam and completed their logbooks, then a person can now be called a fully registered Medical Officer / Medical Doctor.

A Journey of a Junior Medical Officer

After 7 or 8 years experience, a house officer will be given a full registration under Malaysian Medical Council. This registration process is a lengthy process which takes up months before it will be completed. Most doctors will apply for full registration 4 months before they finish their house officer training program. The registration will be processed only if all the criteria has been fulfilled by the house officer which includes log book, review by a board of specialist, no disciplinary action recorded, and other paper work stuff that need to be settled. A full registration means that the doctor now can practice as a doctor independently. They can wo…
