Master in Pathology (Malaysia): A Guide To Apply.

Well, I got carried away in previous post talking about my experience taking entrance exam for Master in Pathology. You can check it here: Master In Pathology: My Experience Entrance Exam That was not my first attention on trying to write such post. My intention was to share on how to get into that entrance exam in the first place. So here it is. A step by step guide on how to get yourself into the entrance exam.  A Guide to Apply for Master in Pathology (Mpath)  1. Make up your mind. I've seen a few of my friends who apply for this pathway and get confused before it begin. Ask yourself, are you really interested in Pathology? Do you know what pathology is? Do you know what kind of work are you going to do in Pathology.  Most of the time, people thought pathology MO or specialist were all just sitting down drinking coffee and chit chat all day long. No work to do. Think again. The best thing to do is to get yourself into the department itself. Work as a pathology

Master in Pathology (Malaysia): My Experience Entrance Exam

I've told earlier that I wanted to talk about my experience taking entrance exam for Master in Pathology or MPath but talk about my celcom problem instead. - All Google App not working Over Mobile: Celcom Experience. It has been years since I took an exam paper, this time I had to. To continue in master program, we need to sit for an exam organized by KKM along with Universities which were held in University Malaya this year. Living and working in Sabah, going to University Malaya means...money. Ticket, accomodation, transportation such as taxi, all need to be accounted for. Unfortunately, this year exam were held a month earlier than scheduled and the information regarding that arrive to us like 2 weeks before that. We were pretty much stressed out because the air ticket prices were all expensive. We have no choices as the everything was on short notice. I hate this kind of situation. We have to go to peninsular twice, the first one for the workshop on how to answer the exam a

All google app not working over mobile: Celcom experience.

I want to talk about my recent experiences on taking entrance exam for Master in Pathology which happen last week, however I rather talk about this before that as this problem really cost me a lot of trouble in this few weeks.  i can't use any of google related app in my phone... From browser, to youtube, google map, even Playstore. All showing connection error or no connection detected. In browser, it always says web age not available.  Initially I thought there were some kind of network problem in my area (Kota kinabalu) but then when I went to Kuala Lumpur for my entrance exam, the problem persist. Calling celcom tech support, they only say that they will reset my data but nothing happen, I still can't surf the web.  Strangely, third party app like facebook, 9gag, Waze..etc, all working perfectly. So it was no network error. Perhaps its my phone, but when I use a Digi simcard from my wife, the problem disappear, while installing my celcom simcard to my wife phone cause her p

Master Pathology Entrance: Taxi? Bus? Car? Sabahan Dilemma..

I am a little busy lately, studying hard to get through the entrance exam to continue study in Master Pathology program. Its a normal thing for all the candidates or whoever that want to pursuit further study to have a Master degree. Sabahan dilemma... I am not a pure Sabahan as I am from Labuan but yes, Labuan are located in Sabah. Maybe its a federal territory but it does not make it nearer to Kuala Lumpur or Putrajaya or something. Thus, geographically, I have to consider myself as a Sabahan. Taking this entrance exam has been a dilemma for such people from Sabah. We have to study hard for the exam, at the same time, we have to plan our leave from work, and the most trouble some thing is, we have to use aeroplane to go to KL just for a few hours of exam. There were no other way to go there from 'oversea' as my friend said, he too had difficulty in arranging money for the ticket at this time of the year (end of year, holiday season, christmas..so on). I wonder how for

The Rock: The Most famous Wrestler ever.

Image
How do I start with The Rock? Hmm.. perhaps we should start it with Stone Cold Steve Austin. As I mentioned in my last post "Stone Cold: The Legacy That Make Pro Wrestling Relevant" , Stone cold really change the sports entertainment industry, not just pro wrestling. He was everywhere. He was damn famous. However, Stone cold popularity would open a door for another rising star in WWF. Dwayne Johnson, also known as Rocky Maivia or The Rock. I start watching pro wrestling when Stone cold was already on the top of the business, but I clearly remember this one star name The Rock which supposed to be the heel, or the bad guy at that time. However, Steve Austin character was so bad ass, I as a child tend to like this bad guy instead. I love The Rock since the beginning. I don't really understand what they are doing actually during those days as TV time was limited and internet kind of non exist. I don't get it exactly who is the bad guy or the good guy. At that time, ev

Antibiotic Apocalypse: Rebooting the Earth System

Image
I would eagerly like to talk about how nice my trip with my family to the beach today, or talk about how wonderful my morning waking up on a sandy beach with the sound of the wave from the ocean. No, I have to highlight this topic because it seem that we are going to face it real soon. Antibiotic apocalypse, is what they called it. Since this week was the antibiotic awareness week through out many region in this world, I sense a little bit of responsibility to inform everyone about the 'doomsday' that will start very soon. As a medical officer myself, having my fair share of experience working in district posting, I have to admit that once in a while we did prescribe antibiotic to those who does not need it.  We were thought in medical school about the usage of antibiotic, about the harm it will cause if you freely prescribe it to anyone, yet we did the same mistake once in a while. Once in a while is dangerous no matter how innocent that statement was. Yes, some pati

Win Cafe @ Financial Park Labuan: Variety of Food, Less in Taste.

Image
So I was back in Labuan last week to celebrate my daughter birthday party along with aqiqah and 'Cukur Jambul" ceremony for my second daughter. This time, I was determined to taste some of the newly open restaurant in Labuan. After a bit of discussion (basically just randomly picked), we chose Win Cafe which is located at Ground Floor Financial Park. This place previously was occupied by..some shops ( I forgot what shop). Located in front of Aifa Electrical shops. Environment wise, this place provide a good old rustic but classy looking eating place. Calm, clean, and all the worker looked professional. When you walk in, you feel like you are going into a high class fancy restaurant. Nevertheless, the restaurant provide affordable and variety of food. Ranging from western to local cuisine. Food prices almost all, are below RM20. The steak was priced based on how many gram of beef do you want. That was cool. There were buffet lunch promotion where you pay RM12 to eat as

Vaping is safer than smoking: Incomplete story.

Image
Vape is becoming a hot topic today to be discussed. Since its introduction a few years ago, it has been quite a common thing to nowadays, everywhere. The heat of the debate fueled by politics and social media creating a perfect pathway for some to start a fight, and to start a group or community of vaper. Do we have a community of smoker? Or a society of drug addict? Community of vaper are creating a reason to avoid themselves from becoming another therapy group like smoker, drug addict or even alcoholic. They were fighting a battle they should not be in, in the first place. E-ciggarettes in its introduction era was a promising stop smoking method. With this new method of inhaling nicotine, smokers can avoid from getting more harmful chemicals to cause health problems. It was promising in the beginning.  Day by day, more research produce what all have expected. Vaping is not ultimately safe. It does contain cancer producing agent. Worse, researcher have not yet found the comple

Subpoena?Sepina?Sapina? : Experience testifying in court.

If you are a medical officer like me, you will have a chance to be called to testify in court. Especially district MO. As you recalled, there will be a lot of assaulted cases, rape cases and so called OSSC cases. This will definitely give you a higher chances to become a witness in court. Today was my first time summoned by court. I would share my experiences so that other medical officer can at least learn how to attend a court session.  First of all, Subpoena..or they call it Sapina. It was a formal 'invitation' by court. It is compulsory for you to come, this is not like a party invitation or something, this kind of invitation that you will get a penalty if you did not attend. When I first received my Sapina, I was nervous like hell. Only for a while as my almost 2 years old daughter always gave me hedache. Don't have time to get nervous.  After getting the Sapina, first thing I did was, meet my bos to get unrecorded leave and arrange for travelling expenses.

Kedai Tayar Putatan: Looking For Tyre in Putatan.

Image
Are you looking for tyre in Putatan area? Look no more. There were a lot of tyre shop here in Putatan. Along thr road you will see Silverstone, Continental, and many more tyre shop to choose from. However in buying tyre, budget is still important. I do not know about the legality of second hand tyre but if you are running out of money, then why not? I always buy second hand tyre when I was in Labuan. Cheap Japan second hand tyre there. As you all know, Japan laws are very strict on tyre. They cannot use tyre which lost its tread even only 20%. We here, use until there are no more thread on it. Haha. But seriously, change you tyre or get fined by JPJ. So in Putatan, I found this shop which sell second hand and original tyre. Second hand one you can choose the one that still have a fair looking tread. While the original tyres were a lot cheaper than any other places in KK that I've been to. For example, I always change my Persona elegance tyre in Likas that cost me around RM200

Beyond Veggie: A secret recipe.

Image
Today my wife and my second daughter were back from Sarikei, so no more alone dinner for me. The first thing we want to do after my wife arrived was to find something to eat, early dinner. Beyond Veggie by Secret Recipe was the last choice for us, but we end up having our dinner there as all other food places in Imago KK were packed full.  We had a bad experience in this place. Once we sit there for tea and order a couple snack and drink cost us RM130+. The most expensive teas we ever had. However since there were no other places, Beyond Veggie it is.  As i mentioned, the price of the food in this place were so expensive. A plate of just deep fried mushroom with kewpie sesame dressing cost RM19.50 without GST. Dont eat here if you expect to find a meal below RM20. I do not know why is it very expensive.  A friend of mine said that, vegetarian or 'health food' cost more than the 'unhealthy' one but I do not see so healthy food here. Vegetarian supposed to

Bridge Of Spies: MBO online ticket first experience.

I am used to watch movies in Golden Screen Cinema. Mainly because their GSC phone application which was convenient for me and all other moviegoers out there. No need to wait in line, just flash your phone and you are good to go.  However today,  I change my style. For the first time, I bought an online ticket from MBO cinema. The process was smooth, easy but there were no bar code given in the end. Only booking numbers which you need to tell at the tcket counter later then they will print the ticket for you. It was basically same like GSC years ago before they introduced their home app.  Luckily, there is a special lane for online ticket purchaser at MBO cinema. So you do not need to line up with other 'offline' moviegoers.  What I like about MBO is, their ticket price is different according to the seat location. For example, the front row will be cheaper than the back one. This is nice as sometimes, when you think about it, you pay the same amount of money in GSC but y

MAS ticket to Labuan OVERPRICED!!!

This is reality. World is turning upside down. I was alone in my home, my daughter is in labuan and I miss her and guess what, Labuan was not that far away from Kota Kinabalu. i should take a plane this weekend and go and visit her. This is where the dilemma start for all Labuanite who work in Kota Kinabalu. It was not far, Labuan was  considered a part of Sabah. Modes of transportation are varies. You can go by road and take a ferry, or just take a ferry directly from Kota Kinabalu, or use airplane.  The most convenience way is to use airplane. 30 minutes flight, available day and night. If you use road, you can only travel at day time as all ferries to Labuan are not operational after 4-5 pm. The last flight to Labuan is at 9-10pm.  So after work on Friday, it would be nice to be on that plane to Labuan.  There are one major problem in that, air tickets are so OVERPRICED. Can you imagine for that 30 minutes flight, you need to pay around RM150 for one way ticket. They

Boring blood drive: Blood Donation campaign As A Filler

I am in blood bank as a compulsory rotation as a pathology medical officer. One of my job is to go mobile. We call it mobile, most people knew it by the name 'Blood Donation Campaign'. Bloods are running low and we need to find blood in our stock or some patient will be in trouble. What can I see through my experience in joining this mobile blood drive is there are not much people that are willing to donate blood. It is sad to get like 5-6 donors each time we went out for mobile. This  team of mobile blood drive usually stay for hours from morning until afternoon waiting for donor. Most of the time they were just sitting around.  Can't blame anyone as not many people are exposed to the reality of blood crisis. Not until their parent, child, or spouse need blood transfusion, then they will be all out to donate blood. For me, that was a little selfish. For example, once there were more than 20 people in our blood center, all willingly want to donate their blood. But t

Borneo Orchid Festival 2015 : What an orchid they have there.

Image
My mom was a big fan of orchids. I brought hee to this international orchid festival in Kota Kinabalu City Hall last saturday.  My mom.  The best plant of the show The best species of the show Sabah Orchids Landscape.  My daughter really excited with the show. But I am not sure she was excited because of the flower or just enjoyed running around.  The winner for best landscape, from Taiwan,  Korean Orchids.  Monkey, Monkey she said.  As said by this text left by the new Zealand participant, when we slow down in nature,  maybe stop and make a cup of tea,  we notice the smallest things around us... like orchids.

Ribut Greg - Greg Storm Hit Sabah Memory.

I was going to talk about Orchids festival, but then I watched this movie with my family just now called Into The Storm. I've watched that like last year when it came out in the cinema and most likely already talk about it before. I remember something when I watched this movie. I remember one tragedy that cost so many lives in Sabah. Years ago. It's deadlier than the recent earthquake incident. It was Greg Storm Tragedy. You may found out about this tragedy when you google it. Try Ribut Greg as a keyword. Most people in Sabah do not want to talk about this tragedy. It was sad. Most new generation do not even know about this tragedy. I've asked a few people in my workplace and only a few of them remember this thing, the rest, were still a too young to remember or not yet born at that time. It happen on 26 Disember 1996. Everyone had their experience when it happen. Those in Tambunan, lost lot of loves one when this storm hit their area very, very, hard. Hundreds if not

Beats by Dre: Love it or hate it.

Image
Since I broke my beatsbydre headphone months ago,  I kind of trying all sort of headphone.  The last one is bluedio hurricane.  I just broke it a few days ago.  Along the way,  I have done a bit of research on headphone.  Most of the information provided in the internet were bashing beatsbydre.  Most of the forumer were saying beatsbydre is the worse headphone ever.  Its overpriced,  yes.  The quality is too bad,  that's subjective.  I do not agree on saying this beats headphone is bad.  It was not bad after all.  Compare it with other headphone,  its comfortable and gives you an experienced like no others when listening to music.  Okay,  when someone compare it to a 6 thousand ringgit headphone,  that would be unfair.  Compare it to the same price range headphone then maybe,  just maybe (as it was subjective),  the other headphone win.  But compare it to thr same quality headphone,  almost all priced the same.  100-200 different in price range,  and you get this sony

Food Celebrity: Eat with a Talent.

Just a few years ago, we would watch a cooking show in our free channel tv. Once in a while, this chefs who were cooking in that show start travelling around cooking all over the places. Then they start travelling. Then there were Anthony Bourdain. Yes, he was the first chef turn celebrity that I watched on the television. Just before Malaysia had her own food hunting shows which was called "Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan". Then, everything just explode. Now there were a dew channels dedicated just for this kind of show, plus cooking show. Then, there were hundreds of food celebrity start appearing in our TV. For me, Anthony Bourdain set the baseline of this travelling and eating show. He is my favourite. His reaction were genuine, his words were honest and sometimes to bold. He critics or praised the food as every other person would do. Reviewing food will not be that great if everything is good and delicious (sponsored would not agree), its about the real taste so that nobody w

Red Shirt Rally : A Shameful of Malaysia

How much shame could you bring to Malaysia? O nce a proud country with claimed to be multiracial,  honest,  clean,  and civilised.  We Malaysia are keeping our eye on becoming a developed country,  yet we take a turn and go back to the beginning.  Nevertheless,  some of Malaysian still do not want to admit that we are doing so.  I have written previously on how I hate racism and we Malaysian should admit that racism is still an issue in this country.  Yet,  nobody want to admit that and our government keep on saying that racism is dead in this country and we should worry about other thing.  They were wrong.  Today,  they proved themselves by doing a rally for Malay. To be clear here,  Malay is a race.  Malay is majority in Malaysia.  Most of our leader are Malay.  Most of the law are in favour of Malay in this country.  Yet they are doing a rally to fight for their right.  Imagine the 70s in america,  where black people were oppressed by the white.  Imagine you were there looking at

JPN (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara): An experience Birth Registration.

It has been a busy week for me. I have no time to update my blog primarily because my wife recently delivered. A new addition to our family member, yeah ( a small celebration there). So, when you have a new baby, the first thing that immediately came to your mind is, to get it registered as soon as possible. You do not want an unregistered baby, especially here in Sabah where illegal immigrant are competing to occupy most of the population here. ( Just saying...) My experience in Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (National registration department) was not as smooth as I expected before. My first baby, I have no trouble getting her registered but this second one, I had to drive 3 times to JPN just to get my new baby registered. The problem happen when nobody in Hospital explain to us regarding registration process like what they did in Hospital Sipitang, where I practiced before. Maybe, they thought that, this was my second time so I should be fine with it. Wrong, the process in KK city

Merdeka: The old, Young and The Future.

Independence day in Malaysia was celebrated decently by Malaysian. No matter which one do you went, Bersih 4.0 rally or Merdeka Day celebration, or both, you are still a Malaysian and nobody can look down on your patriotism without your consent. In the television, newspaper, article on the internet, people start debating about the true meaning of Merdeka or Independence. Most of them (in the TV) were saying that younger generation do not know what Merdeka means. Relating the issue to the street rally held recently, those people are forcing younger generation to admit that Merdeka means what they think it should means. Leading to a conclusion that the younger generations are not so free to choose what they want to think. What is the meaning of independence then? For the old, independence must have mean something related to how those countrymen struggle to gain this country independence in 1957. Their hard work and their experience on living in a country where British Colony restrict

Buying Playstation 4: Worth it.

Image
I already bought a game for my Playstation 4 but now my TV did not work. It must be a problem with HDMI port. My TV in the living room connected well with my Playstation 4. My bedroom's TV gave me a headache. Call up a TV mechanic or technician, said that maybe I need to replace my TV mainboard...that would cost me around RM200. I am too lazy to fix this TV after all that I've been through to set up my Playstation 4. Quick call... I posted an ad for my TV in Mudah.my again, and less than an hour, I sold my broken HDMI port TV for RM200 and with that, I was in Karamunsing Complex in Kota Kinabalu looking for a new TV. Luckily, I found this shop selling a Hisense TV. Do you all know Hisense TV? Nope? It was a new brand introduced by this company from China. You must be thinking that it was a bad brand for a TV, you are wrong. Hisense TV provide 2 years warranty and other than the brand, everything inside the TV work well, same as LG TV or Panasonic. Why would you pay RM800
