Pre-Entrace Exam Course for Pathology Postgraduate: The 'Politics' and Campaigning.

Before you get frustrated any further by the title of this post, this is far from politics that you imagined when you click the link.

When we sign up to enter Master / Doctor of Pathology course in 2015, we were told to fill up in that application on which field we want to continue further study. Whether we choose Anatomical Pathology, Chemical pathology, Hematopathology, Genetics pathology, or Clinical Microbiology. Since then, the application has been changed. Now candidates do not need to specify which area they want to pursue.

Does this mean the government will choose the field for you? No, far from it. You have to make your own decision. I have described briefly before on which field you need to choose based on how you wanted your life to be.

They will eventually ask you to fill up another form when you go for Pre-Entrance exam course. So if you are still not decided, I suggest you start asking yourself now before going for that course. Some people were caught off guard and have …

Be A Good Doctor!

If you read my blog (I am still skeptical that people actually read this blog), you will realise that I am no supporter to a scam doctor, or greedy doctor, who sell products like vitamins, water, air, dirt, any whatsoever and using their title to make that product look...medicinal.

Recently, I found out that many of my friend doctors, start selling herbal product and re-posting testimony of that herbal product in social media like it was nothing. Shameful.

Doctors supposed to be a teacher and educates everyone about real medicine, the science behind it. Not promoting non evidence based product, more over selling them for extra money. If this trend continues, then the same thing will happen again... The same thing that happen before that produce such group like antivaccine group, homebirth group, all the pseudoscience group.

I do not understand why money is so important for medical doctor. You can see that many doctor in Malaysia are complaining about underpayment and I agree that it i…

Snake Bite and Bacterial Infection

Most cat and dogs will cause Pasteurella multocida infection. I was curious however these few days because I found that a culture from a patient with snake bites grew Morganella morganii and to my surprise, I am the only one who were actually surprise about this. Google does not. This is because there were a few study (however scarce) regarding snake oral flora and they found out that Snake do have Morganella spp inside their mouth.

Bacterial infection in snake bite commonly cause by Gram Positive bacteria, mainly Staphylococcus aureus, followed by Coagulase Negative Staphylococci, and Streptococci.
Gram Negative that commonly cause bacterial wound infection in snake bite includes Enterobactericiae; E.coli the most common, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, Morganella morganii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Culture from the snakes fangs, fangs sheaths, venom of various snakes has shown heavy colonisation with many bacteria including: E.coli,Morganella spp, Group D Streptococci, Aeromonas spp, and anae…

Microbiologist Vs Clinical Microbiologist

What is the difference between Microbiologist and Clinical Microbiologist?

(Well, I am writing this at the airport since my flight was delayed, and I just found out that this airport provide free computer and internet for those who -maybe- delayed)

The difference between Microbiologist and Clinical Microbiologist might be so obvious for some people, but I believe there were still people who do not know about it. Some people think that when you took Microbiology degree, you can immediately became a clinical microbiologist. No.

As the name implied, Clinical Microbiologist is basically a medical doctor who specialised in the field of microbiology. The pathway to became a clinical microbiologist started by entering a medical school and get that Medical degree so that you can practice as a registered medical officer. Then, after a few years of training in clinical field, then you will apply for a postgraduate study on Clinical Microbiolgy. In Malaysia, this is done by applying for pathol…

New Entry Master of Pathology Malaysia

It's been a while since I've updated this blog. Maybe I am having a thought block. Everytime I wanted to write something, I frozed.

I need to do some non medical reading just to step out from this phenomenon. I've bought a book by G25..and I just found out that the book was banned in Malaysia. However, I am still going to finish reading it.

Anyway, this year Master in Pathology is a little off compare to previous year. It has been Mid August and the application for HLP has not been started yet. I do not know why because I am not involve in any of this thing.

Otherwise, for the entry of next year Master of Pathology, the date for Pre entrance course has been set on 13 November 2017 in Hospital Putrajaya.

The entrance exam will be held later on 8-9 January 2018 in HUSM.

So this year ( or technically next year) exam will be held in Kubang Kerian Kelantan. Prepare your holiday and book your ticket to Kelantan. There will be a lot of shopping to be done there....or maybe you sh…

Part II Medical Microbiology Program

Most people said that Part 1 Master Pathology program is the hardest part. When you enter Part II, it will be more chill and you can catch a breath.
It has been 2 months since I started Part II in Medical microbiology program. Can I catch a breath? I guess just a little bit. The program is more focused now than before. Now I learn what I wanted to learn when I sign up for this program. I want to learn microbiology and everyday now, I am doing microbiology.
In part 1, the stress was about the study part. In part 2, the stress is about work. Work, work work. Basically I am back as a service medical officer in Microbiology. I am trying to orientate myself, since it was only 2 months since I started working, there were a lot of thing that I need to learn.
Plus, I need to start my research. I already had a topic in mind, well, thanks to my supervisor, it was his idea actually. I think it's plausible and I am beginning to start writing up a research proposal for it. But, I still don&…

How do you study for Part 1 MPath Exam?

In order to proceed to Part 2 Master of Pathology program, you need to pass part 1 exam first. Failure to do so will cause you to be retained in first year and you will be wasting another year studying the same thing all over again.

A lot of senior that I've met before sitting for that exam warned me that Part 1 can be toughed as you need to cover 4 specialties instead of just focusing to one area of your interest. So no matter what you choose during your initial application, you need to study all other subjects too. So, in summary, it's like med school all over again.

I've described the structured of the exam in my last post. Here, I just want to tell a story on how can you pass the exam, this is not a guideline, nor something you need to follow, this is just my story.

Within that first year of study, you need to cover 4 module: Anatomic Pathology, Hematology, Microbiology, and Chemical pathology, (and a little bit on forensic pathology too). In my observation, there are …

Part 1 Exam Pathology In Malaysia

Just finished my part 1 exam pathology. I am still worried at this moment because the result was not out yet. However, I should share my experience going through the exam. It was fun, at the same time can make one feel suicidal.

So, after 1 year of studying pathology, you will be tested on your knowledge in this part 1 exam. This exam is a compulsory exam to book yourself a place in part 2 of the program. Failing this exam will make you repeat the whole year of study. The exam will only be held once a year, so you will only have one chance to do it every year.

My exam this year held in University Sains Malaysia,Kota Bharu Kelantan. Every year they will change the venue. The exam was pretty simple in its format. 2 theory exam, 2 practical (OSPE) exam. (it does sound simple). The theory paper will be divided into 2 subject each, anatomical pathology + Microbiology, and Hematology+ Chemical pathology. So 1 theory exam will contain 2 subjects. in 1 theory exam there will be divided into t…

Master in Pathology Malaysia: Should You Consider

A direct question, should you consider taking Master in Pathology course in Malaysia? Before I answer this directly, I would first would like to congratulate for those who pass their entrance exam. Result were out last week. Some people celebrate their success getting through that exam, and some people just don't have enough luck to be accepted into the program.

One of them was my wife. She passed the exam, went for the interview, in the end, her name was left out, most likely due to bad economy nowadays. What is with the economy? I was thinking that maybe government does not have enough money to sponsor it's citizen to further their Master study, but the reason was not with the sponsorship. It's higher than that.

If government cannot sponsor its citizen to study, why don't just ask them people to pay for their study themselves? Solved the problem. However, I was told that it's not about the scholarship or we called it HLP, it's about the seat offered by the un…

Zalora, CollectCo: Return Refund and where to find them.

Ordered a belt from Zalora. I really love this belt with automatic leather buckle. The price can be very expensive. Original leather with that kind of buckle cost at least RM150 and above. However I found this belt in Zalora for only Rm44.90.

Is is a real leather? Yes. I am sick of this fake kind of leather. It prone to snap and break. The real leather are more elastic and more resistant to wear and tear.

One thing about shopping in Zalora is ( everyone will agree with this), is the size they advertise does not always match the real product. Who are working behind this Zalora stuff? Do they feel  guilty on lying to their customer. They were selling clothing, accessories, shoes, belt, online! Size does matter.

So, when the belt was advertise to be this length... what I received today is 20cm shorter. 20 cm!! I can accept plus minus 5. But this is 20cm. This is the second time such thing happened to me.

Rest assure. Zalora have 30 days return policy. You can return the item to them for …

Ex-Too Phat Malique: Disappoint us again!

Maybe it was not ASTRO fault, maybe it was not Anugerah Era teams fault. Maybe it was Malique who disappoint us so many times, showing no respect to all his fans who has been supporting him from day 1.

As you all know, at Anugerah Meletop Era 2017, there were a little bit of excitement when Dayang Nurfaezah performed a song with Malique live..Or is it? When the song started, all eyes were trying to find which one among those robes wearing human being is malique. We all heard Malique voices, it has been a long time since we hear him "Live".

We were all waiting, to be disappointed that Malique was not there. And I doubt he was anywhere near that place. Astro in the end make a press conference saying that it was all a gimmick. A stupid one!

What is the worst thing than lip sync when performing live? Doing like what Malique did, not even even at the site in the first place. It was dumb. All the fan were tricked into believing that we will for once in our lifetime will see Maliqu…

How Much To Study for Part 1 Mpath (Malaysia)

As I gaze upon the star, thinking about what will happen in the future, I saw text 'marqueeing' my vision. Then I looked down, to the thick book that I am reading right now.

How much do we need to study for Part 1 Master of Pathology? Basically, a lot. It's medical school final exam all over again. To registered yourself into Part 2 of the 4 years program, you need to basically master 4 subject in 1 year. Ironically, when part 2 started, you will be specialised into only 1 subject of your choice. Why do we need to learn all 4?

There were reason behind this, and it's debatable. A lot of argument, pro and cons and all sort of things but the system was already there, and to change it, it will need a lot of brain and paperwork. There were a few changes with Forensic Pathology since they are trying to depart from Master of Pathology program, have their own exams and their own assessment for their candidates to ensure that their candidate did not get stuck because they faile…

Labuan Indah: A Song That Should Not Be Forgotten.

As I was busy preparing for my final exam this May, I did not update this blog that much anymore. I have a lot of things to share but I have no time to share it as for now. Perhaps after the exams, I will start sharing more.

However, during my strenuous reading for the final exam, I stumble upon a song in my mind (yes, in my mind - you know when you study 18 hours a day then you started sing something in your mind). Maybe too much information feed into my brain cause it to trigger a remote past memory about a song. This song is called Labuan Indah.

It is supposed to be a official song for W.P Labuan. It used to be. I remember when I was in matriculation college before med school, those from Sabah will sing their official Sabah anthem, Sarawak will sing their official Sarawak anthem, then Labuan. Even we are only minority in that college as most of them were from the mainland of Borneo, yet the song became more famous than the other two songs.

Most of my friend always say..

" How …

Death to all those who steal!

When we were busy visiting interesting places in KL with my wife, someone decided to break into our house in Sabah and steal our stuff. I can't believe that it's finally happening to me. I've heard so many story regarding burglary cases in my apartment area and I believe that by those cases, the security and management, the police, and whoever involved in trying to solve this problem, already learn their lesson and try to fix the problem.

Nothing has been done. Cases of burglaries are on the rise. It seems that no one have a solution for it. That is unacceptable. But no matter how many grunts I wrote, people will always said that they are doing their best to reduce the crime rate, but the results were the opposites.

When my wife arrived at our home in Putatan, she was really shocked to see that our door were damaged and everything inside the house was thrashed. How could people be this evil. I never show off my wealth, I never disturb anyone, but yet, someone decided to do…

Who Watches Wrestling anymore?: Rumble To Wrestlemania 2017.

Who took a day leave just to stay at home and watch Wrestlemania? I did that once.

Who watches wrestling anymore? I do. It's an option and no one should be judge on whatever they want to watch. Someone love watching those malay drama on Tv3 and someone love to watch wrestling on WWE network. Both are not real, but both can be entertaining that's for sure. I do not watch those drama anyway but my wife love it.

Last year, I took a day off to watch Wrestlemania Live. This year, I do not plan to do that, but I am still going to watch it, maybe just the replay. The problem with Wrestling shows and also most of the sports show, or any Live show from the west, they always hold it on Sunday night which equals to monday morning in Malaysia. I wonder why they choose Sunday night and not Saturday night. Did American be able to go to work the next morning after the show? Just curious.

Anyway, regarding wrestling, I am a fan of wrestling since I was a little kid. Don't bluff to me, eve…

Happy 2017 : A Wish inside an ambulance that has been granted.

Happy new year to everyone. It will be another beginning of a chapter in everyone's life.

I really hope that 2017 would be a better year even though there is already a bad news for all of us..yes, petrol price hike for January. So I believe 2017 would be another tough year for all of us who happen to be living in Malaysia.

This new year eve and count down, as usual, for me, is just a simple TV watching and fireworks hearing activity in my house. At least last year I was doing the same thing but with my family sleeping in the room, this year pretty much I am alone. What to do, have to sacrifice for master study or perhaps I should blame it to Airasia and all other airliner who set the airline ticket price so beyond the normal value during this holiday season.

And finally, all my allowance are taken officially as I am not considered working, I am a student who is being paid 'fully' just to study. Thanks government. Now I feel like I am working in my home town as they have ta…
